Neil Everatt (Consultant) is a law graduate of Nottingham University. He was admitted as a solicitor in England & Wales in 1983 and in Hong Kong in 1985. Neil undertook his articles of clerkship at  Norton Rose in  London. After admission, Neil worked as an assistant solicitor with Malkin Cullis & Sumption, London specializing in commercial and shipping litigation work though he also had hands-on experience in employment and banking matters.

In 1986, Neil was seconded to Au Yeung & Co. in Hong Kong to attend a large commercial fraud trial, the so-called "Carrian Case", which gave rise to the longest and one of the most complex criminal trials in Hong Kong.

On returning to UK in 1987, Neil joined Lawrence Graham. He became a partner of the firm in 1993, leading a team in Lawrence Graham�s shipping and international trade department. During his 15 years' practice in Lawrence Graham, Neil handled predominantly "dry" shipping litigation cases, including charterparty disputes, bills of lading disputes, cargo claims, demurrage claims and general average disputes in the High Court, Admiralty Court and international arbitration tribunals. Neil litigated several large unsafe port claims in the Mississippi and Orinoco and jetty/quay damage claims in Greece, Guinea Bissau and Venezuela. Neil also litigated some of the leading English cases on arrest of ships and dangerous cargoes.
 
As a former head of Lawrence Graham's Ukrainian office, Neil advised international clients on English law and Ukrainian law.

Neil left Lawrence Graham in 2002 and worked until 2007 as a part-time in-house legal adviser of Leman Commodities S.A. (one of the world's largest steel traders) and Fayette International Holdings Ltd.

Neil is a CEDR accredited mediator. He had been active in mediating a wide range of disputes between companies and between individuals during the period of 2002-2007.

Neil has 3 children, Kirill (born 1997), Andrey (born 2005) and Emily (born 2007). Neil�s hobbies include organising safaris and renovating his stone barn in the Sierra Cantabrica of Northern Spain.
