Jonathan
Rostron (Partner) was admitted as a solicitor in England in 1985 (now non practising) and in Hong
Kong in 1987. He worked with Holman Fenwick & Willan
in London and Hong Kong between 1985 and 1990 and in London
with More Fisher Brown (now MFB) from 1990 to 1992. He became a partner
of the now defunct City of London law firm, Sinclair Roche
and Temperley in 1994 and in July 2001 left to set up Jonathan
Rostron Solicitors ("JRS"). He presently also
sits as a member of the Hong Kong Law Society’s Solicitors
Disciplinary Tribunal.
Jonathan Rostron was born
in Bolton, England in 1960 and after attending Bolton School
and Sheffield University, he attended law college in Chester
in 1982 and went on to pass the then Law Society Final
examination in 1983.
He mainly undertakes shipping
and commercial litigation which also touches on insurance(marine
and non-marine) and commodities disputes. Since 2003 JRS
has become active in sale and purchase work at the behest
of its ship owning clients and has also undertaken work
for banks in complex sale and purchase, loan and bareboat
charter back arrangements.
He
has two sons and a daughter aged 17, 11 and 15. He enjoys
tennis, swimming, golf, watching horse racing, rugby and cricket and drinking wine.
He is a member of the Hong Kong Jockey Club and The
Hong Kong Club.
